Angie Barnett, President/CEO, BBB | Greater MD

Angie’s background includes 15 plus years experience serving in executive roles for non-profit organizations prior to her arrival at BBB of Greater MD. She assumed the leadership position as President/CEO of Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland in March, 2006. BBB, whose mission is to foster and build marketplace trust, has 3000 accredited businesses and as such, ranks as one of Maryland’s largest business organizations.

Previous to joining BBB’s team, Angie served five years as Vice President of Membership at the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.Angie provided leadership in membership development and retention and member services, working closely with many of Maryland’s corporate and business leaders.

After graduating with advanced degrees in Sociology, Angie focused her energies to serve communities at greatest risk and in greatest need through innovative programs and services. Her experiences ranged from serving as the Founding Director of a community-based program bringing education and work-place skills to young parents, to assisting the Cecil County Commissioners to implement a HotSpot program as part of the crime reduction strategies for the county. Angie’s passion for community impact, community change translated into serving the business community through her previous work at the Maryland Chamber.

Angie made Maryland her home 30 years ago after moving “north” from her home state of Arkansas. She now resides in Federal Hill after a few years in Annapolis and spending 12 years in rural Cecil County. She is a 2000 graduate of Leadership Maryland and currently serves as the Membership Committee Chair for the Executive Alliance, serves on the Board of the MD Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, serves on the state’s Project SAFE workgroup and is a governor’s appointee to the Consumer Council. She has one daughter and son-in-law who reside in Dallas.
