Mary Beth Lennon, President of Mercy High School

Mary Beth Lennon is in her seventh year as president of Mercy High School, a Catholic, college prep school for girls in grades 9-12. Mercy, located in North Baltimore, is at its highest enrollment since 2009 and has completed more than $12 million in improvements over the last decade.

In October 2019, Mercy opened their new $4.7 million Sisters of Mercy Athletic Complex, a premier sports facility on their 26-acre campus.

A Baltimore native, Mary Beth grew up in Cockeysville, attending St. Joseph School there. A member of Mercy’s class of 1985, Mary Beth is the first Mercy graduate to lead the school.

Before coming to Mercy, Mary Beth served on the founding leadership team of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Fell’s Point.

She holds a BA in history from what is now Notre Dame of Maryland University and a master’s in Latin American history from The Catholic University of America in Washington.

Last year, Mary Beth was one of just 20 school leaders selected for the prestigious Klingenstein Fellowship program at Columbia University Teachers College.

Active in Baltimore’s civic and cultural life, Mary Beth is an innovative leader in education.
