Nanny Cam Records The Sitter Rushing To Save The Kids From An Explosion

Itā€™s every parentā€™s worst nightmare. Youā€™re away from home, then something unpredictable puts the lives of your children in danger.

Fortunately, when the unexpected happened at their home, Chris Reno and his wife Anna-Maria Faiola had a brave babysitter on hand. In the middle of the day, the homeā€™s boiler suddenly exploded in 2015.

The explosion was captured on a nanny cam, literally blowing out the wall of the childrenā€™s playroom.

Footage showed that the coupleā€™s son was playing in there just moments before the explosion. Their 2-year-old daughter was sound asleep directly above the explosion ā€” luckily it did not reach her room.

ā€œIf the explosion had gone vertical and that boiler had shot straight up, it would have gone straight into our daughterā€™s room where she was sleeping. So baby Lily would have been very hurt,ā€ Anna-Maria told Inside Edition.

The footage showed something else, however: The brave sitter rushing to rescue the children, removing them from the home without a scratch.

Things could have gone so much worse. The shrapnel alone could have caused serious injury.

ā€œThere are nails everywhere,ā€ Anna-Maria said.

Inside Edition asked home-safety expert Ron Hazelton how to spot the signs of a possible, but rare, boiler explosion.

ā€œYou may notice your house unusually hot. You may hear some kind of rumbling sounds, which is the water beginning to boil over and gurgle. You may smell something that kind of smells like hot metal. Now, if all of those conditions are existing, what you should really do is call 911. Call the fire department. Get your family out of the house,ā€ Hazelton said.
